Bullseye cancels on Belgian stamps

#1

Post by TheCoverCollector »

While I am in the Belgium forum I might as well post some of my Belgian stamps. I collect used, WW and keep a sideline collection of cancels on stamps, i.e. bullseyes, slogan and pictorial cancels, and object cancels on stamps. Below is a sample of my Belgium pages. I am reluctant to post full pages as I doubt they will be large enough to see the details and the enlargement of images feature on this forum doesn't increase the image much.

A fun sideline for sure. I've also got a large number of Belgian cancels that I've been planning on mounting up. Never really had a good idea of how I wanted to present them however (by cancel type, by Scott number, by city, by date??). I just dont know yet. Your pages are the first I've seen so far that represent something similar to what I would like.
I've done similar pages with Swedish cancels.
Thank you for posting these. It gives me ideas.

Here is one of my stock pages of Belgian cancels. One of these days I will mount them up properly.

Nice postmarks. As for how to arrange them, it really depends on your own choices. I would probably go either by place or by date/era.

If possible, I'd recommend collecting postmarks on piece. There are also some online postmark archives where you could submit your pictures. The best one I know, however, is in German.

It's amazing how good the Belgium stamps are so awesome with the 🎯 cancels. 90% of mine are like that. I wish all the other countries were as accurate.
